Tragic Monday at sea in Fuerteventura. According to 112 Canarias, a man has died after being rescued from the sea showing signs of drowning at Cofete.

Assessment of the victim provided by SUC:

  • Man, approximately 56 years old, deceased.

Services activated by CECOES 112:

  • Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC): one medicalised ambulance and one medicalised helicopter
  • Emergency and Rescue Group (GES): rescue helicopter
  • Maritime Rescue
  • Pájara Fire Brigade
  • Guardia Civil
  • Local Police

Notes:

  • At the time indicated above, the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) 112 of the Canary Islands Government received an alert reporting that individuals had pulled a man from the water who was showing signs of drowning and required medical assistance.
  • 112 immediately activated the necessary emergency resources.
  • Upon arrival, SUC personnel confirmed that the individual was in cardiac arrest, and performed basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres, which were unsuccessful, confirming his death.
  • Police forces assisted alongside other emergency resources and prepared the necessary reports.
