Notable Writer Elizabeth Duval to Speak at Lanzarote Literary Festival

On Thursday, 16 October 2025, the III Lanzarote Literary Festival (FDLL25) will welcome Elizabeth
Duval
at the El Fondeadero Civic Centre in Puerto del Carmen. Duval is recognised as one of the most distinctive and provocative voices in contemporary literature.

A Multifaceted Talent

A philosopher, philologist, poet, novelist, and activist, Duval has made writing a space for critical thought and identity exploration. In her talk titled Writing as Political Identity and Poetic Territory, she will propose a dialogue about the intersection of body, language, and politics, exploring how literature can unsettle, question, and transform.

Festival Highlights

The FDLL25, under the banner Letters of Mackerel and Salt, runs from 9 October to 3 December and will feature six prominent authors: Fernando Aramburu, Cristina Fernández Cubas, Sergio del Molino, Mónica Ojeda, Ignacio Martínez de Pisón, and Duval herself. The festival will also include creative writing workshops led by Matías Candeira and Men Marías, furthering its mission to make Lanzarote a vibrant literary hub.

Engagement with the Community

Following two successful editions, the festival strengthens its commitment to bringing literature closer to the island’s residents, offering talks and workshops that encourage engagement, reflection, and inspiration in accessible locations across Tías, Yaiza, and Arrecife. Places are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is now open at the following link.
