Festivities in El Médano Honour Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes de Roja with a Diverse Programme Until 24 September

The heart of El Médano in Granadilla de Abona continues its celebrations in honour of Our Lady of Mercedes de Roja, offering a varied programme of events that began on Friday 12th September with the 20th Night Route to the Ere of Brother Pedro, which will run until 24th September.

Today, Tuesday 16th September, from 16:30, various activities aimed at children will be held. Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th, a celebration for the elderly will take place from 18:00, featuring performances by El Charro and Pepe Benavente.

Humour and 80s Festivities

Thursday 18th is dedicated to comedy, with a presentation by Omayra Cazorla starting at 21:30. Finally, on Friday 19th, there will be a youth party themed around the 80s, with performances from Dj Renzzo El Selector, Dj Daviz Pérez, Agua del Chorro, Ni un pelo de Tonto, Escuela de Calor, and Dj Fabrizio.

Romería Barquera

One of the most anticipated events is the 18th Romería Barquera, taking place on 21st September, starting around 13:00, following the mass. During the pilgrimage, a solidarity offering will be made to the Virgin, with the items distributed by Caritas.

Participants will include dancers from El Hierro, the fanfare from Puerto de la Cruz, and various folkloric groups, culminating in a boat procession through the bay. The Sunday festivities will conclude with a grand dance featuring the orchestras Saoco, Wamampy, Maquinaria, Sabrosa, and Tropin.

Final Festivities

On Saturday 20th September, the celebrations will kick off at 20:30 with a mass, followed by a procession of the image accompanied by the music band Sociedad Cultural José Reyes Martín, concluding with a fireworks display. The night will wrap up with a fiesta featuring the orchestras Tropin and Revelación.

Finally, on Wednesday 24th September, the feast day of the patroness will be marked by a solemn mass at 20:30, followed by a procession featuring the Chimiche dance.
