Emergency services alert for temperatures that may exceed 37 degrees in many areas of the island

The General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has issued a warning based on AEMET forecasts and other available sources, activating the Specific Emergency Plan for meteorological risks.

The areas affected will include the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Lanzarote, while a pre-alert remains in effect for La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.

This situation is characterised by a heat episode, particularly affecting the coast and mid-altitudes, coupled with varying amounts of dust in the atmosphere. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach or exceed 34-37 degrees in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Tenerife, and 30-34 degrees in La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.
