First Nautical Exhibition in Canary Islands Opens
The Vice-President of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso, and the Councillor for Industry, Manuel Fernández, inaugurated the first Nautical Exhibition in the Canary Islands this morning (Friday 19), which has been named in honour of Iñaki Domínguez, the former manager of the Tenerife Exhibition Centre.
Afonso and Fernández were joined by the President of Asnáutica, Carmen Fernández Ibars, along with other regional, island, and local authorities.
Opportunities for Tenerife
During the inauguration, Lope Afonso highlighted “the opportunity that hosting such initiatives represents for Tenerife, which is a long-held aspiration now come to fruition, allowing the island to reconnect with the sea.”
The Vice-President stated, “This Exhibition is a new effort to lay the foundations of a strategy that will drive the Blue Economy, transforming us into an island that makes intelligent and sustainable use of all its resources, with nautical activities serving as a useful tool for economic diversification.”
Honouring a Legacy
Councillor Manuel Fernández announced that the Exhibition would be called the ‘Iñaki Domínguez Nautical Exhibition’, in memory of the long-serving manager of the Exhibition Centre, recognising his professional career and personal qualities characterised by dedication, discretion, and loyalty. He left an indelible mark on all of us, which we wish to honour with this gesture.
Carmen Fernández Ibars, President of Asnáutica, emphasised “the collaboration between the Cabildo and the sector in launching this initiative, which has received enthusiastic support since its inception.”
Event Details
The Iñaki Domínguez Nautical Exhibition will run from today (Friday 19) until Sunday 21 September, opening hours are from 10:00 to 20:00 (with the exception of Sunday, when it will be open from 10:00 to 15:00).
The Grand Hall of the Exhibition Centre will host 50 companies and 60 stands, along with a series of talks on various nautical-related topics.
