This weekend, a variety of events will be offered for all audiences, featuring the Siroco Festival, the Institutional Wrestling of Christ, and the procession and fireworks of the Octava.
The city of San Cristóbal de La Laguna will experience the official closing of the programme for the Cristo 2025 festivities in the coming days. Over this weekend, locals and visitors from the rest of the island will be able to enjoy a series of cultural, religious, and sporting events aimed at all ages, including some much-anticipated iconic moments.
Dailos González, the city council’s Councillor for Festivities, expressed gratitude for the “great support and excellent reception that the official agenda for these celebrations has received, which began on September 4 and has thrilled us with outstanding live performances, family-friendly events, and faith-driven processions through the historic streets.”
Musical Highlights on Friday
On Friday, September 19, two significant musical evenings will take place. At 20:00, the Cristo Rock 2025 will be held at the Aguere Cultural Space, featuring performances from King Sapo, Saturna, and Banda sin nombre. Just an hour later, the dance night ‘Al son del Cristo’ will kick off, with contributions from Daniel Calero, Estrellas de Buenavista, and the Sabrosa Orchestra.
Saturday Events
Saturday’s programme will start early with two key sporting events: the 25th City of La Laguna BMX Trophy at 09:30 in La Vega Park, and the 34th City of La Laguna Table Tennis Tournament at 10:00 in the Guamasa Pavilion.
Also at 10:00, the final Saturday of the Children’s Fair will commence, offering families bouncy castles, workshops, photo booths, animated characters, Zumba sessions for the little ones, and a magic show by Magia Borrás on the main stage.
At 11:30, another notable event will take place at the Cabrera Pinto Museum. The Canary Islands Day of Migration, a commemorative and cultural initiative led by the General Directorate of Emigration of the Canary Government, aims to highlight migration experiences and promote coexistence based on mutual respect and social integration.
The agenda will also include the 18th University Tunas Parade at 12:30, the Boxing Evening of the Cristo Festivities at 20:00 in the ‘Esteban Afonso’ municipal pavilion, and the second Siroco Festival at 21:00, featuring a headline performance by Love of Lesbian in the Plaza del Cristo.
Closing Events on Sunday
Sunday will mark the conclusion of this year’s Cristo festivities, featuring events such as the Institutional Wrestling at 11:00, the 18th Concert of the Symphony Band of the University of La Laguna at 12:00 in La Cathedral Square, and the family show ‘The Song of the Jungle’ presented by the Tenerife Juvenile Philharmonic Orchestra Miguel de Jaubert at 17:00.
The grand finale will be the traditional Eucharistic celebration and procession of the Octava del Cristo, commencing at 20:00. During this event, the image of the crucified Christ will journey through the city centre before returning to its Sanctuary to witness the customary fireworks display that concludes the festivities.
