The Cabildo Supports the Training and Cultural Endeavours of the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands with €340,000

Island councillor José Carlos Acha emphasises “the important role of music bands, which has been and continues to be essential for the teaching, dissemination, and enjoyment of musical culture on the island”

The Cabildo of Tenerife, through the Cultural and Museums Department, is providing €340,000 to support the training and cultural efforts of the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands in the 2025 financial year, as announced by island councillor José Carlos Acha.

Acha highlights “the important work of the music bands, which has been and is fundamental for educating, disseminating, and enjoying the musical culture on the island. Through these bands, one of the most powerful forms of cultural participation in our society emerges, engaging hundreds of individuals who play instruments within these groups.”

Extensive Musical and Educational Contributions

According to councillor José Carlos Acha, the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands “conducts a wide-ranging musical, educational, and organisational effort that translates into the Musical Spring at the Auditorium, performances in various municipalities, and the organisation of training and conducting courses. The Cabildo of Tenerife supports this work, which brings music to the entire insular territory, aligning with the goals of democratizing and disseminating culture while fostering a more inclusive and cohesive society.”

Community Engagement and Cultural Impact

The Tenerife Federation of Music Bands comprises 37 bands from all municipal areas on the island, each with between forty and sixty members. Approximately 2,000 individuals dedicate their spare time to an activity that promotes the teaching and dissemination of music, directly impacting the Tenerife population by offering free concerts for several months each year, thereby enhancing the cultural offerings available to the public.

The collaborative initiative between the Cabildo of Tenerife and the Federation Tinerfeña de Bandas de Música not only includes training courses but also the staging of concerts during the Musical Spring cycle. This allows the affiliated bands to perform in the Chamber Hall between March and June, alongside the hosting of a youth band meeting. This year, over 4,500 spectators attended the thirteen concerts of the Musical Spring.

In total, thirty-seven bands participated in this edition, which concluded yesterday in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.

José Carlos Acha emphasises that “the Cabildo must continue to support these actions that bring the talents of our musicians closer to the community, which every year increases its attendance at the concerts they offer.”
