Intense Heat Continues in the Canary Islands

The intense heat remains a significant issue in Canarias. The islands reached their maximum temperatures early this morning, accompanied by a tropical night that made it very difficult to sleep.

In Puerto de Mogán, Gran Canaria, temperatures soared to 34 degrees Celsius at 1:00 AM, while Güímar, Tenerife, recorded 33 degrees. These figures have set new records for September.

Gradual Relief Expected

The extreme heat is expected to gradually ease in Canarias this Saturday. However, temperatures of up to 34 degrees are still anticipated across several islands, along with continued dust haze. This haze may reduce locally in certain areas, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency.

The maximum temperatures will reach 33 degrees in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 30 degrees in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with minimums of 25 and 24 degrees, respectively. The forecast also indicates moderate northerly winds, with likely strong gusts in various parts of the islands.

Weather Warnings in Effect

Warnings for high temperatures and dust haze remain active across Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, and Tenerife, with maximum temperatures soaring to 36 degrees Celsius.
