Arrecife Joins “RECUÉRDAME” Campaign for World Alzheimer’s Day

In accordance with the partnership agreement approved by the Local Government Board on 25th June 2025, the Department for the Elderly of the Arrecife City Council, led by Rosmen Quevedo, is joining the “RECUÉRDAME” campaign this Sunday, 21st September, which is promoted by the National Confederation of Active Seniors (CONFEMAC) in recognition of World Alzheimer’s Day.

Campaign Message

The campaign conveys a clear and human message: the dignity, emotion, and ability to enjoy sensory experiences remain intact in individuals with Alzheimer’s.

While the disease primarily affects memory, it is not limited to this aspect. Emotions remain alive. Those with the condition can still feel moved by a song, find comfort in a gentle touch, or smile at a beloved voice. Even if they forget names or places, they will always remember how we make them feel.

Commitment to Dignity

Rosmen Quevedo emphasises, “From Arrecife, we want to commit ourselves to this cause: to view people with Alzheimer’s for what they still have, not for what they have lost. Their dignity and right to be treated with respect, affection, and warmth never fade.”

The councillor encourages all citizens to spread this message and share the campaign video, contributing to a more sensitive and respectful society for those living with this disease and their families.
