Maritime Rescue Operation Off Lanzarote

The Maritime Rescue Service has rescued another inflatable boat carrying approximately 50 individuals, all of whom are of sub-Saharan origin, according to the Emergency Consortium.

Details of the Operation

This rescue took place at around 10:30 on Sunday, 21st September, approximately 58 nautical miles east of Lanzarote. Furthermore, search efforts are ongoing for another vessel believed to be carrying around 39 people.

Summary of Rescues

With these two boats, three vessels have been rescued today. Earlier this morning, at around 4:38, another boat carrying 50 migrants—49 men and one woman—was intercepted about 54 miles northeast of Arrecife.

The rescue operation was conducted by the Salvamar Polimnia. They arrived at Puerto Naos around 7 a.m., where the migrants received assistance from the Red Cross.
