Filtration of Preliminary Report Undermines Parliament’s Credibility

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Sebastián Franquis, stated on Monday that the leak of the preliminary report from the investigation committee regarding pandemic contracts “undermines the prestige” of the Chamber.

In comments to journalists, he emphasised that it erodes “the credibility of the institution” and, “what’s worse, harms the trust in the work of the investigation committee,” as conclusions are suggested before the final work is released.

“What is mentioned in that leak is exactly the same as what Mr Acosta – the chairman of the committee – stated two months prior to the start of the investigation. Two months before, he already said the same thing; they wouldn’t delve into criminal responsibilities, but there were political responsibilities, exactly the same,” he added.

Franquis reminded that Ciutadans (CC) and Partido Popular (PP) filed the request for the investigation committee, naming it the “Torres case,” hence he is not “surprised by how it is used” and “how it damages” the Parliament and harms the “prestige” of the institution. “In light of this, they must assume responsibility,” he concluded.
