The Canary Islands will experience a change in weather early this week, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). Following days of extreme heat and calima, temperatures will begin to drop, though in some inland and southern areas they may still reach 30°C.
From Calima to Clouds
The calima that characterised the past days will gradually diminish, giving way to cloudy skies or intervals of cloud, particularly in the north of the higher islands, where light and occasional rain cannot be ruled out. However, the southern parts of the islands will generally see clearer skies.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, temperatures are expected to range between 23°C and 28°C, while in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the forecast indicates values between 22°C and 26°C. In Valverde (El Hierro), temperatures will remain lower, with minimums of 18°C and maximums of 22°C, and in Santa Cruz de La Palma, values between 19°C and 24°C.
Winds Strengthening
The northeast wind will blow across the archipelago, generally moderate, although it will strengthen during the afternoon on the southeastern and northwestern slopes of the islands, reaching strong intervals.
In coastal waters, the northeast will also dominate, with force 3 to 4, increasing to 5 or 6 by the end of the day. This will be accompanied by swell to strong swell conditions and a north swell of 1 to 2 metres.
