I Insular Congress on Sociosanitary Experiences to Take Place in Tenerife
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) – Almost 500 participants are expected at the I Insular Congress on Sociosanitary Experiences, an initiative organised by the Social Action department of the Cabildo of Tenerife, taking place on 25 and 26 September.
The Social Action Minister, Águeda Fumero, along with the manager of the IASS (Institute of Social and Sociosanitary Care), Yazmina León, and the director of the Dependency Care Unit, Beatriz Durán, presented this initiative on Monday, which will be held in Puerto de la Cruz featuring 12 national speakers.
Fumero stated that this Congress “is another element for improving sociosanitary care, which should be approached from a comprehensive perspective, aimed at enhancing the quality of life for dependent individuals, the elderly, and people with disabilities, promoting their autonomy and physical and emotional well-being.”
She detailed that the Congress will allow for the “sharing of technical advances, discussion of new intervention and care strategies, promotion of interdisciplinary collaboration, and training for professionals on emerging trends.”
The Minister also recalled a meeting of the entities from the Insular Ring of Social Policies held by the Cabildo in 2024, “which was the seed for this Congress, born with the clear intention of providing practical tools to professionals who assist dependent individuals in Tenerife on a daily basis.”
Fumero emphasised that “in Tenerife, 8,500 individuals are cared for each year, thanks to a network of over 100 public and private entities, which is becoming a solid alliance, enabling us to reach all corners of the island with increasingly specialised services.”
During the presentation, Yazmina León, manager of the IASS, noted that this pioneering Congress in the Canary Islands aims to primarily target “the professional public, but also students training in the sociosanitary field, and anyone in society interested in sociosanitary care.”
Meanwhile, Beatriz Durán, the director of the Dependency Care Unit, stressed that “the aim of this initiative is to share experiences and professional stories that become educational tools which, in turn, will enable us to improve the lives of individuals.”
