The Cabildo Allocates €2.5 Million to Municipalities for Priority Works
The Councillor for Municipal Cooperation, Sonia Hernández, announces that the Government Council will approve the Insular Programme for Priority Municipal Works 2025 tomorrow (Wednesday 24), aiming to “provide territorial cohesion and equity in access to essential public services”
The Councillor for Municipal Cooperation of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Sonia Hernández, has announced that the Government Council, meeting tomorrow (Wednesday 24), will approve the Insular Programme for Priority Municipal Works 2025.
Hernández explained that “this Programme makes available a budget of €2,550,000 for municipalities with a population under 20,000”, affirming “the Cabildo’s commitment to territorial cohesion and equity in access to essential public services”.
The programme will have an execution period concluding in 2027, allowing municipalities to develop their projects with all necessary guarantees. Regarding this aspect, the Councillor for Municipal Cooperation highlighted “the Cabildo’s intention for the works to be carried out with technical rigor and within a stable financial framework”.
The Insular Programme for Priority Works will finance urgent or priority municipal works linked to the daily operation of public services under municipal authority, prioritising actions that have already resolved preliminary technical procedures (such as prepared projects or availability of land).
Local councils will be able to allocate the funds, both to the direct execution of works and to the preparation of technical projects.
Sonia Hernández concluded that “the ultimate goal of this initiative is to ensure that small municipalities have sufficient resources to maintain basic infrastructure, such as supply networks, lighting, sanitation, or paving, particularly when urgent situations or deterioration arise that cannot wait for the regular cycle of Cooperation Plans”.
