Fasnia Council Launches Project to Enhance Access at CEO Guajara

The Fasnia Town Hall has announced a tender for a project aimed at transforming the access routes and immediate surroundings of CEO Guajara. The initiative seeks to ensure accessibility and enhance the safety of the educational community.

This intervention complements the recent opening of the Las Eras nursery school, which connects the two institutions and solidifies CEO Guajara’s status as the only place in Tenerife offering free public education for children aged 0 to 16 years.

Project Details

The project, set to be completed within five months, involves a comprehensive upgrade of two key areas: the interior of the school and Pablo Ruiz Picasso Street at the main entrance.

Inside the school, a covered reception area will be constructed next to the current entrance, protected by a metal structure that will provide shade for students. Additionally, accessible ramps will be created to replace the existing one. This pathway will blend with the existing landscaped area, preserving most of the canary pines, transforming the interior courtyard into a “walk through the forest.”

Traffic-Free Zone and Improvements

Along Pablo Ruiz Picasso Street, directly in front of the school, a traffic-free area will be established during entry and exit times, as well as school hours. Metal fences will be installed, and a pedestrian zone, a small playground, and a mural on the sports complex wall will be created. Furthermore, road signage will be improved, and a new access ramp to the municipal sports hall will be constructed.

Fasnia Mayor Luis Javier González emphasised the significance of this project. “The centre’s student population has doubled in a very short time, and it has outgrown its facilities. We aim to provide a recreational area with a playground and ensure safer entry and exit for students,” he explained.
