Malpey Fuerteventura Games Returns to Corralejo for the 4th Edition
The Malpey Fuerteventura Games are set to return for the second year in Corralejo, showcasing the best of cross-training in its 4th edition. The Town Hall of La Oliva, in partnership with the MalpHaltero Weightlifting Club and the collaboration of the Cabildo Insular de Fuerteventura, presents this sporting event that is expected to attract a total of 320 athletes, who will compete for the podium by demonstrating their strength, endurance, agility, and technical skill on the 27th and 28th of September. Corralejo will experience cross-training in its purest form during the Malpey Fuerteventura Games.
Competition Categories
The competition will be divided into three levels based on the athletes’ skill: scaled, intermediate, and RX/Master, which will further be categorised into male, female, or mixed divisions.
Event Schedule
Thus, athletes from both within and outside Fuerteventura will take part in a total of five events spread throughout the weekend. The first two events on Saturday and Sunday will take place at the Municipal Pool of Corralejo. The third competition on the 27th of September will begin at 18:00 on Avenida Nuestra Señora del Carmen, featuring the iconic weightlifting of this sporting modality, providing a visual spectacle for locals and visitors in the town centre.

Isaí Blanco, the Mayor of La Oliva, emphasised the growing significance of this sporting discipline on the island: “Without a doubt, cross-training has gained increasing traction in recent years, not just for its appeal as a sport, but also for the sense of community created within the box. Additionally, the Councillor for Sports, Gleiber Carreño, remarked: “For the second year, we welcome this cross-training event to the municipality to enjoy the best of this sporting modality. We look forward to attending the competition, which combines different sports in a single encounter.”
Finally, the Councillor for Commerce, Alexandra Martín, stated: “The Malpey Fuerteventura Games is a significant sporting event for our municipality and for the entire island. The arrival of numerous athletes and their entourages not only promotes sporting activities but also revitalises the local economy, benefiting our hospitality, restaurants, and shops. Such initiatives are essential for further establishing Fuerteventura as a benchmark in sports tourism.”
