Primary Sector and Tradition: La Oliva Offers Traditional Craft Workshops
The Ayuntamiento of La Oliva, through the Department of the Primary Sector managed by Rubén González, has launched four workshops focused on traditional crafts.
These workshops cover topics such as women’s contributions to harvesting, palm weaving, traditional pottery, and historic agricultural practices. The aim is to showcase the customs of the Majorero people in relation to agriculture and other trades that are part of the island’s heritage. They serve as a reminder of the traditions of Fuerteventura and one of its long-standing means of livelihood.
This initiative is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Canary Islands Government, under Submeasure 19.2 LEADER of the Canary Islands Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, managed by the Ayuntamiento of La Oliva.
