The Cabildo of Fuerteventura, through its Department of Works and Machinery, is currently engaged in various initiatives in the village of Tuineje, in coordination with the Town Hall’s Department of Works and Services. One of the main projects is the preparation of spaces for the 285th anniversary of the Fiestas Juradas of San Miguel Arcángel. Cabildo and Tuineje prepare spaces for the San Miguel Fiestas
The President of the Cabildo, Lola García, emphasises the essential coordination with local councils, reflecting the Cabildo’s commitment to maintaining public infrastructure and spaces across the entire island. In this instance, the preparations are particularly significant due to the celebration of the Fiestas Juradas of San Miguel, which have been declared of National Tourist Interest and have become an important historical and cultural attraction.
The Councillor for Works and Machinery at the Cabildo, Blas Acosta, noted that “a significant part of our work involves supporting local councils to maintain their services and infrastructure in optimal conditions, especially concerning minor needs that fall outside larger planning frameworks, as these councils are the administrations closest to the citizens.”
The Councillor for Works and Services at the Tuineje Town Hall, Miguel Andújar, expressed his gratitude for the collaboration with the Cabildo and highlighted that “the involvement of Works and Machinery enables us to address the basic needs of residents more quickly, as well as undertake larger initiatives to ensure the best possible conditions for our Fiestas Juradas.”
In this context, personnel and machinery from both administrations are currently preparing the sites where the events for the 285th anniversary of the Fiestas Juradas of San Miguel Arcángel will take place, and where attendees will gather. They are removing potentially hazardous items to create safe spaces for large gatherings.
The combined efforts over recent days also include other initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for local residents, such as the installation of sanitation connections.
