Local Police Find Abandoned Backpack Containing €22,250
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23rd Sept. (EUROPA PRESS) – A local police patrol in Santa Cruz de Tenerife discovered an abandoned backpack on a bench in the Transport Interchange last Friday evening, containing €22,250.
The backpack was taken to the Local Police’s Lost Property office, where the owner appeared on Monday morning to reclaim the money, apparently the result of a recent inheritance payout.
The individual, approximately 85 years old, had contacted the local police on Saturday, showing visible signs of confusion. He was unable to clearly explain his loss and could not provide some of his personal details, making it difficult to ascertain what he had misplaced.
On that day, officers managed to locate a family member who took responsibility for him, as per the information provided by the Local Police.
However, on Monday, he returned to the Lost Property office, and with the help of the officers assigned to these duties, it was established that he was indeed the owner of the backpack.
All necessary checks were conducted in his presence, the money was counted, and some banking information he provided was verified.
Following this, a police patrol offered to accompany him to a bank where he could deposit the full amount into his account.
