During the celebration of the RallySprint de Antigua, the third round of the Las Palmas Provincial Championship, a Hyundai i20R5 with the number 1 prominently featured in a dramatic accident that left all spectators on edge.

The vehicle, driven by Víctor Antonio Afonso from Lanzarote, lost control after a spectacular jump on one of the most demanding sections of the route: the link between La Corte and Los Valles, which was traversed in both directions. After landing hard on the front axle, the car flipped violently, taking with it the fright and concern of the audience.

Within seconds, tension filled the air. The front right wheel was ejected and the vehicle ended up completely off the road, visibly damaged. Despite the state of the car, the co-driver, Jonay Fragiel, managed to get out on his own and suffered no injuries.

The driver, on the other hand, was quickly attended to by emergency services and transported by ambulance to the Hospital Virgen de la Peña, where he was admitted with a rib injury. His condition was classified as moderate, although he is out of danger.

From the Valles de Ortega sports centre, participants faced one of the most technical stages of the season, which combines speed, tight corners, and elevation changes.
