The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts a complex weather scenario for the Canary Islands on Monday, 8 September, combining haze, storms, high temperatures, and strong winds.

General Outlook

  • Skies: Predominantly clear across the archipelago, though the persistent calima continues to affect higher altitudes on southern slopes, with some spread to coastal areas.
  • Storms: Isolated thunderstorms with locally heavy showers are likely, particularly in inland zones and mountainous regions.
  • Temperatures: Minimums will fall slightly or moderately, while maximums may exceed 30°C in several parts of the islands.
  • Winds: Northeasterly on the coasts, occasionally very strong in exposed areas; easterly and moderate in the midlands; southerly in the mountains.
  • Sea conditions: Northeasterly winds force 4–5, increasing to force 6, with swell or heavy swell. A northwesterly swell of 1–2 metres is expected, and visibility will be poor at times due to calima.
