Mas Ruines que Caín and Sweet Girls to Enliven the Fair Programme with Performances
This weekend, Tuineje will be the focal point for culture, the primary sector, and local gastronomy. In addition to meeting with producers and chefs from across the island, there will be theatrical performances by two cultural groups from Fuerteventura.
Engaging Cultural Activities
The Asociación Sociocultural Mas Ruines que Caín will host an animated tour in the vicinity of the Fair and the Church of San Miguel, titled “Usos y costumbres de la sementera en Fuerteventura”. This association will transport us to a reality that is closely tied to our culture.
Mas Ruines que Caín is a cultural benchmark in Fuerteventura, known for rescuing significant events for collective memory, such as the staging of the play on Good and Evil in Tuineje. This year, they received the prestigious Gold Medal of the Canary Islands, marking them as a source of pride for local culture.
Additionally, the renowned dance group Sweet Girls from Tuineje will contribute to the event’s entertainment. This talented team of young performers has been an essential part of Tuineje’s celebrations for many years. They had the honour of being the heralds of the San Miguel festivities in 2024.
A Programme Full of Activities
Alongside the culturally rich contributions of these two groups, the Fair will feature various children’s workshops focused on island culture, several showcookings highlighting the quality of local products, as well as diverse workshops and musical performances.
Craftsmanship will have a prominent place at the Fair, showcasing traditional culture as a living exhibit, with the best artisans in the sector represented across different areas of the event.
Furthermore, the event will be enhanced by two traditional craftsmanship workshops led by local artisans.
This Friday and Saturday, the area around the Church of San Miguel will reflect both the recent and enduring identity of Fuerteventura, while also looking towards the hopeful future that the rural world has to offer to the inhabitants and visitors of the island.
