Aguilera and Mení bring their show “Misión Impro-Sible” to the Canary Islands as part of the Reíslas Comedy Festival
The Gaditan comic duo Javier Aguilera and Carlos Mení is set to perform in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote with their show “Misión Impro-Sible”, as part of the third edition of the Reíslas Comedy Festival.
Audiences can enjoy this performance on 12th September at the Palacio de Formación y Congresos in Fuerteventura and on 13th September at the Teatro Cine Atlántida in Arrecife (Lanzarote), during their only two shows in the Canary Islands.
A Comedy of Humour and Improvisation
Inspired by the well-known film series “Mission Impossible”, “Misión Impro-Sible” is an improvised comedy that combines monologues, parodies, and active audience participation. The protagonists portray two unemployed brothers from Cádiz who decide to join an organisation to steal a jewel, facing absurd challenges and impossible tasks that promise constant laughter.
The hallmark of the show is its improvisation: each performance is unique, featuring unexpected situations and the audience’s involvement as a central element. “Those who buy a ticket know what they are coming for; it’s not classic ballet. What we offer is Gaditan humour with authenticity and truth,” explains Carlos Mení.
Gaditan Humour and Carnival Roots
Aguilera and Mení are prominent figures in the Cádiz Carnival, where they excel as members of quartets. In January 2025, they won the first prize at the Official Carnival Groups Competition (COAC) with “Los cocos de Cadi”.
Both highlight that carnival has served as their artistic school, a space where they mastered parody, improvisation, and direct audience engagement.
In addition to their success on stage, the duo’s videos have surpassed one million views on social media, reaching countries such as Argentina, Peru, and Uruguay. Many of their upcoming performances in Spain are already sold out.
The Journey of Javier Aguilera and Carlos Mení
- Javier Aguilera began his career at Canal Sur Televisión as a comedian and writer on the programme Las Tardes María. Since then, he has worked in theatre, film, and television.
- Carlos Mení, closely associated with the Gaditan carnival, is one of the most recognised carnival performers and has also appeared in various Canal Sur programmes as a comedic actor.
The duo has joined forces to create a fresh, direct, and popular style of humour that captivates every audience.
