Airport Operations Disrupted by Dog at Lanzarote Airport

Operations at César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport were interrupted on Tuesday for approximately half an hour after a dog was reported near the runway.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by air traffic controllers (@controladores), both take-offs and landings were suspended for safety reasons while the animal remained in the area. This caused delays to several flight schedules.

Specifically, five arriving aircraft had to remain in a holding pattern before they could land, while some departing flights experienced delays of up to 30 minutes.

The animal was eventually captured, allowing operations to resume normally. The controllers emphasised, “Safety first,” as they closed the incident, reminding everyone that any foreign object in the vicinity of a runway poses a potential risk to passengers and crews.
