As with his teammate César Álvarez, and previously with David Rodríguez, Alassan’s impressive career in the CD Tenerife Youth Football System and his remarkable performance under Álvaro Cervera have earned the home-grown winger a deserved place in the professional blue-and-white squad.
“Alassan has earned his spot in the first team; he is a player from within the club who can offer us valuable contributions, meaning we did not need to search outside for a profile we already had,” stated the sporting director of CD Tenerife, Manu Guill, on 14 August, confirming the positive news of the youth player’s inclusion in the first team for the 2025/2026 season (with an option for an additional year).
Alongside the club president, Felipe Miñambres, and the head of the sporting department, Alassan experienced an intense day, supported by his family, who were by his side at the club headquarters (Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López) during this special moment he had long awaited. On Friday, 22 August 2025, a dream became a reality, and Alassan is now determined to aim even higher.
This swift winger, known for his flair and ability to beat defenders, is also versatile, capable of playing on either flank. Alassan Manjam Gutiérrez (12/09/2002, Santa Cruz de Tenerife) has consistently shown promising movements in attack, demonstrating immense effort throughout his time at CD Tenerife, where his trajectory has been clearly upward.
His eagerly anticipated debut took place at Heliodoro Rodríguez López during the 13th round of LaLiga SmartBank 22/23 (Second Division), against Real Zaragoza. During that season, he appeared in five matches (four in the league and one in the Copa SM el Rey), scoring once in the cup against CD Lealtad of Villaviciosa.
Experience in Primera Federación
During the following 23/24 season, Alassan played in 11 matches (nine in the league and two in the Copa SM el Rey). In the latter half of the campaign, he participated with UD Melilla in Primera Federación, increasing his total appearances to 15 (with one goal).
Last season, he returned to the island, making his first appearances in the 24/25 season during the initial round of the Copa SM el Rey MAPFRE against CD Alfaro. He also featured in league matches against Real Oviedo (15th round) and Albacete BP (16th round). His participation tally reached a total of 21 matches and one goal, alongside significant contributions at CD Tenerife B in the 24/25 season, where he played a crucial role for the reserve team. In the 23 matches he played, he managed to score ten goals.
“Alassan has earned this,” emphasised the sporting director of the island club to the media. “He deserves to be in the first team of CD Tenerife; that is how it will be.” This way, the blue-and-white coaching staff will benefit from the talents of this local player, developed in their youth academy.
