Prealert Status Maintained in Canary Islands
The situation of prealert remains in the islands of El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, and Tenerife.
LAS PALMAS DE GRAN CANARIA, 14 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The General Directorate of Emergencies and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands has declared, starting from 10:00 am this Monday, an alert status due to the risk of forest fires on the island of Gran Canaria at altitudes above 400 metres.
Additionally, the declaration of prealert for the risk of forest fires, issued on 1 June 2025, remains in effect for the islands of El Hierro, La Palma, La Gomera, and Tenerife.
Specifically for Gran Canaria, forecasts indicate a heat episode with maximum temperatures potentially reaching or exceeding 30 to 34°C. The day will feature a temperature inversion below 600 metres and relative humidity of 30% or less above approximately 700 to 800 metres.
Furthermore, forecasts also predict the presence of high-altitude dust and winds blowing from the east and southeast, ranging from light to moderate in the mid-altitudes, high zones, and summit.
