Enhanced Security Measures for San Ginés Festivities in Arrecife
The Arrecife City Council will mobilise 100 personnel from Thursday, the 21st, through to Monday, the 25th, the main day of the San Ginés festivities, to bolster safety and security at the most popular events of the Sangineles.
Arrecife’s mayor, Yonathan de León, who also oversees the Local Police, announced on Thursday that the municipal security council, presided over by the mayor, approved the security plans for the two-week celebration of the patron saint of Lanzarote’s capital.
Security Plans for the Festivities
According to these security plans, during the extended weekend—which includes the public holiday in Arrecife for the Grand Day of San Ginés—100 personnel will ensure the safety of the most attended events of the festivities.
Alongside the Arrecife Local Police, approximately 50 National Police officers and members of Civil Protection, affiliated with the Department of Security and Emergencies led by Councillor Kevin Cortés, will also be involved.
Coordination and Surveillance
This extensive deployment, supported by the Local Police’s video surveillance system and the Drone Unit, enables a special operation in Arrecife for the San Ginés patronal festivities, with coordinated efforts among various units to monitor and prevent incidents, respond swiftly to any disruptions, and ensure that events proceed smoothly, in keeping with the festive spirit of the capital’s celebrations.
Upcoming Events and Attractions
Events include the Fiesta de la Chola, San Ginés Joven, concerts by Antoñito Molina and Alejandro Fernández, as well as fireworks displays.
