The Procurement Area of the Arrecife City Council has completed the awarding of four contracts deemed strategic for improving public services and modernising municipal infrastructure. The total investment amounts to €2,807,247.62, allocated to projects ranging from the expansion of the cemetery to the acquisition of new vehicles.
The awards, signed by the deputy mayor and procurement councillor, Echedey Eugenio, will address longstanding demands from citizens and enhance road safety as well as the capacity of municipal teams.
The majority of the investment is allocated to the expansion of San Román Cemetery, with a budget of €1,908,847.62 (including IGIC). This project has been awarded to Hormiconsa Canarias S.A., and is set to take eight months to complete.
The project includes a five-year guarantee aimed at ensuring the quality and durability of the works. The council has emphasised that this intervention addresses a growing need for space, long requested by local residents.
Investment in Schools and Road Safety
Another area of focus is educational institutions. The joint venture Capross 2004–Activa Lanzarote has been awarded two contracts for the maintenance of public schools. The first contract, valued at €400,000, involves work on building facades, while the second, worth €200,000, is for roof improvements. The total investment in this area amounts to €600,000.
In the realm of mobility, a contract for the maintenance, upkeep, and road signage of Arrecife has been awarded. With a budget of €170,000 and a one-year renewable term, the initiative aims to enhance safety on the streets and manage urban traffic.
The fourth project involves the acquisition of three vehicles for the Public Works area, with a budget of €128,400. According to the City Council, this measure will renew the fleet and improve the response capacity of municipal teams in maintaining and preserving the city.
Echedey Eugenio has explained that these contracts are part of a “clear roadmap” that prioritises investment in areas where it is most needed, with the aim of delivering results to the public as soon as possible.
