Arrecife Reinforces Security with 100 Personnel for San Ginés Festivities

The Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, presided over the Municipal Security Board, where the security plan was approved to deploy officers from the Local Police, National Police, and Civil Protection teams.

The Town Hall of Arrecife will deploy 100 personnel from Thursday, the 21st, to Monday, the 25th—on the main day of the San Ginés celebrations—to enhance security and surveillance during the most crowded events of the Sangineles.

Security Arrangements

Mayor Yonathan de León, who directly oversees the Local Police, detailed that the safety plans for the two-week celebrations of the patron saint of Lanzarote’s capital were approved during the Municipal Security Board meeting.

According to these security plans, throughout this long weekend, including the public holiday on Monday in Arrecife for the Grand Day of San Ginés, a force of 100 personnel will ensure the safety of the most popular festivities.

Alongside the Local Police of Arrecife, around 50 officers from the National Police and members of Civil Protection, affiliated with the Security and Emergency Department led by Councillor Kevin Cortés, will be involved.

Enhanced Surveillance

This significant deployment, supported by the Local Police’s network of CCTV cameras and a drone unit, facilitates a special operation during the patronal festivities of San Ginés. The coordinated efforts of various units will monitor the celebrations to prevent incidents, respond swiftly to any disturbances, and ensure that events proceed smoothly.

Upcoming Festivities

This long weekend, Arrecife will host its busiest events celebrating the Fiesta de la Chola at the Parque Islas Canarias, as well as San Ginés Joven. The concerts by Antoñito Molina and Alejandro Fernández, along with fireworks displays at El Reducto beach, will benefit from a larger stage this year at Punta del Camello, expected to attract thousands for these performances organised by the Town Hall of Arrecife.
