The Arrecife City Council’s Department for the Elderly, headed by Rosmen Quevedo, has announced that registration for the 24th edition of the “Abuelos Conejeros” Wood Bowling Tournament will open on Monday, 22nd September. This year’s event will take place in the municipality of Arrecife, with registrations accepted until Wednesday, 8th October.

Registration Details

Interested individuals should visit the Department for the Elderly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, between 08:00 and 13:00, to complete the necessary documentation.

Encouraging Participation

“I encourage all older residents of our city who wish to keep this tradition alive to participate. This tournament not only promotes physical activity but also fosters social interaction, camaraderie, and pride in our roots. We hope this edition reflects the energy and enthusiasm of our elders,” remarked Quevedo.

Previous Edition Highlights

In the 23rd edition of the tournament for the 2024-2025 season, over 500 participants from all seven municipalities of Lanzarote took part. Arrecife made a significant contribution with 24 teams, comprising 15 male and 9 female teams, from a total of 136 registered teams.

Recognition and Gratitude

Rosmen Quevedo highlighted in a press release that being chosen as the venue for the next edition “is both a responsibility and an honour for our city.”

Additionally, the Councillor for the Elderly expressed gratitude to the Lanzarote Cabildo, the Insular Sports Service, the other collaborating municipalities, and especially to all the elderly participants who make this sports and social event possible each year.
