On 29 August, as part of the security and prevention actions carried out by the Guardia Civil of Lanzarote, an individual was arrested for drug trafficking during the popular Famara festivities.
The arrest followed extensive surveillance conducted by the Citizen Security Patrol of the Costa Teguise Company, which was patrolling the main streets of the locality on foot.
The operation began when officers observed a man who, upon noticing the police presence, exhibited visibly nervous and evasive behaviour. This reaction raised the officers’ suspicions, prompting them to proceed with his identification, which led to the discovery of illegal substances in his possession.
During the search, officers confiscated a total of 20 small bags that, according to initial assessments, contained cocaine. Additionally, portions that were allegedly hashish were found, along with a sealed bag containing magic mushrooms and several blue pills, the contents of which are currently under investigation.
This arrest reinforces the commitment of the Guardia Civil to combat drug trafficking on the island, particularly during times of high public gatherings such as local festivities.
The proceedings were submitted, along with the detainee, to the Court of Instruction No. 2 in Arrecife, where further investigations and legal actions will continue.
