The Auria Badminton Club’s competitive team travelled to Catalonia last weekend to take part in the TOP TTR Lleida, a level N7 tournament, gaining invaluable experience in national competition.
Silver Medal Achievement
Álvaro Guadalupe and David Rodríguez excelled in the under-13 men’s doubles event, earning a silver medal at the TOP TTR Lleida. The competition included five players from the Auria Badminton Club, supported throughout the weekend by coaches Miguel Barbado and Jorge Oliverio Pérez. Isaac Rincón, Álvaro Guadalupe, and David Rodríguez competed in the under-13 category, while Lucía Rincón took part in the under-15 women’s event, and Patricia Vargas in the under-17 women’s category.
Individual Competitions
The standout result of the weekend came from the men’s doubles in the under-13 category. The duo of Álvaro Guadalupe and David Rodríguez secured the silver medal after losing to David Bastos and Martín Coronas in the final (12-21, 9-21).
In the individual competitions, Álvaro Guadalupe won against Daniel Vargas in the group stage (21-17, 21-10); however, this was not enough to progress to the knockout phase of the tournament. Meanwhile, David Rodríguez claimed victory over his teammate Isaac Rincón (21-8, 21-17), also falling short of reaching the final stages in the under-13 men’s event.
Looking Ahead
It was a weekend filled with excitement and competition for the young members of the Auria Badminton Club. They now have a full week to prepare for the club’s participation in the TOP TTR El Rosario in Tenerife, which will feature categories for under-11s, under-13s, under-15s, seniors, and recreational players.
