Auria Bádminton Club Shines at TOP TTR Las Playitas with Medals and Strong Performances

The competitive season officially commenced for the Auria Badminton Club this past weekend, with eight club members participating in the TOP TTR Las Playitas tournament. This event, classified as N7, featured categories for under-13s, under-17s, and seniors. Young David Rodríguez emerged as the runner-up in the under-13 category, while the team secured three bronze medals in the doubles events.

Auria Team’s Composition

The Auria Badminton contingent that travelled to the island of Fuerteventura included Isaac Rincón, Álvaro Guadalupe, David Rodríguez, Nerea Padrón, Patricia Vargas, Zhi Tao Li, Alejandro Rijo, and Oliver Gausmann. They were accompanied over the weekend by coach Jorge Oliverio Pérez.

Individual Achievements

David Rodríguez achieved the best individual result in the male under-13 category. In the group stage, he won both matches against Diego Ramírez (21-17, 21-15) and Airam David Steux (14-21, 21-18, 21-17), securing a place in the medal rounds. He advanced to the semi-finals by defeating Álvaro Acosta (21-8, 21-19). Despite a challenging match against Felipe Pérez in the semi-finals (12-21, 21-11, 21-15), he reached the final but was unable to overcome Aarón Mayor (19-21, 12-21), finishing with a silver medal.

Success in Doubles

In the male doubles under-13 category, the pair of Álvaro Guadalupe and Isaac Rincón clinched the bronze medal after defeating Lionel Escudero and Diego Ramírez (21-16, 21-18) but lost to Eduardo Jesús González and Francisco José González (13-21, 16-21).

Alejandro Rijo also achieved two bronze medals in the senior doubles category. The first was with his club mate Zhi Tao Li in the men’s doubles, and the second was in the mixed doubles with Claudia Haugaard from Club Tecnocasa Fuenlabrada. They secured victory over Samuel Mayor and Oriana Sosa (21-10, 21-9) before falling to Lot Socas and Carmen Delia Alonso (17-21, 12-21).
