Event Overview
With new obstacles and greater challenges across the 3, 5, and 10-kilometre routes, 500 athletes from various nationalities will compete in the Bestial Race Xtreme Yaiza 2025. This will be the sixth occasion the event is held in the picturesque town of Yaiza and its Alameda Square, where spectators can closely observe the endurance, skill, and determination of the participants as they navigate this demanding obstacle course.
A Celebration in Yaiza
Yaiza is currently celebrating its patron saint festivities, and the Bestial Race has become a major sporting spectacle and a hallmark of Canary Islands events. The race is scheduled to start at 09:30 and conclude around 13:30, providing athletes, their supporters, and the audience with a vibrant day filled with festive spirit.
Comments from Officials
Óscar Noda, the mayor of Yaiza, remarked that “the Xtreme Yaiza, part of the Bestial circuit in the Canaries, reinforces Yaiza’s position as a leading municipality for island sports and a premier tourist destination in the Islands and Spain. Athletes can enjoy the landscape and our tourism services, boosting the local economy.”
The mayor unveiled the event this Thursday at the Yaiza Cultural Centre, in the presence of Sports Councillor Ángel Lago, the Lanzarote Island Sports Councillor Juan Monzón, and the organiser and CEO of Bestial Events, Alfredo López. The Bestial Race Xtreme Yaiza is a collaborative effort involving the Yaiza City Council, the Lanzarote Island Council, the Lanzarote Promotion Society (SPEL), and Bestial Events.
Encouragement for Participation
Councillor Ángel Lago reminded attendees of the event’s origins, crediting its founders: “Long before the K10 Xtreme Yaiza became part of the Bestial Race, it was born from the enthusiasm of a group of locals and municipal workers who laid the groundwork for the prestigious event it has become today. The City Council continues to support this initiative, and we invite the people of Lanzarote to join in the grand sporting celebration this Saturday.”
Juan Monzón also highlighted the institutional support, specifically from the Island Council, urging all administrations, councils, and the Council itself, “to attempt to schedule all sporting events without clashes. We understand this is challenging as there are numerous competitions across different disciplines, but I believe we can make an effort to create a more appealing calendar for everyone.”
Commitment to Health and Tourism
Alfredo López asserted that “now established as a symbol of sports and active tourism in Lanzarote, the Bestial Race reaffirms its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle, energising the local economy, and enhancing Lanzarote’s international profile.” On behalf of the organisation, the mayor of Yaiza thanked the municipal staff, volunteers, and all those involved in the organisation and security planning for Bestial Race Xtreme Yaiza.
