The Cabildo Allocates €140,000 to Improve Municipal Play Centres

The Councillor for Social Action, Águeda Fumero, states that “this is another example of how collaboration between administrations can contribute to enhancing the quality of life for citizens”

Fumero highlights “the Cabildo’s commitment to children’s rights, underlining the Tenerife seal of ‘Child-Friendly Island’ awarded by UNICEF”

The Cabildo de Tenerife is allocating €140,000 to a funding line to support the operation of the island’s municipal play centres.

The Councillor for Social Action, Águeda Fumero, describes this initiative as “a testament to the Cabildo’s commitment to the children of Tenerife, as demonstrated by the ‘Tenerife, Child-Friendly Island’ seal awarded to us by UNICEF. This recognition reflects the cross-cutting work undertaken by the Childhood and Adolescence Unit of the island institution, as embodied in the Second Plan for Childhood and Adolescence. The plan aims to ensure equal opportunities for all residents of Tenerife and to uphold the rights of children and adolescents in all areas of life.”

The funding line initiated by the Cabildo to improve municipal play centres is aimed at enhancing the facilities and services provided in these spaces. This includes the purchase of both inventory and non-inventory materials and equipment, of a playful and socio-educational nature, as well as covering the costs of extraordinary recreational and socio-cultural activities planned within their Specific Educational Project for Play Centres.

Águeda Fumero emphasises that “this initiative aligns with the Cabildo’s objective to work in a coordinated manner with the island’s municipalities, specifically aiming to facilitate activities in the municipal play centres. These centres are community elements that promote learning, social integration, and the emotional well-being of children and adolescents.”
