The Cabildo to Showcase its Potential to Strengthen Sport on the Island at Expodeca

Councillor for Sports, Yolanda Moliné, highlights the area’s interactive stand that invites physical activity

The Cabildo of Tenerife, through its Sports department, will display its potential to bolster the island’s sports ecosystem at Expodeca, hosting the Canary Islands Physical Activity and Sports Fair from October 2nd to 5th at the Ferial Venue.

Councillor for Sports, Yolanda Moliné, explained, “Tenerife will be present at ExpoDeca 2025 with a modern, virtual, and interactive stand covering almost 100 square metres. This space will feature a corporate area where the Cabildo’s sports programmes will be showcased on large screens, highlighting how the island has become a benchmark in sports through the initiatives promoted by ‘Tenerife Activa’ to encourage physical activity and promote healthy lifestyle habits. I commend this initiative from the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity, and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands.”

The area designed by the Sports department in collaboration with the public company Ideco will be fully accessible and sustainable. It will also include an interactive zone featuring various activity proposals to encourage visitors to embrace the motto ‘Activate Your Life’. One of these is the Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB challenge, which invites the public to add kilometres towards completing the main race route of 110k for charitable purposes. Additionally, visitors can engage in various games, test their football skills through a simulator, or climb a giant bouldering wall.

Exhibitions and Events

Expodeca will also host the exhibition ‘Legends of Sport’, showcasing approximately 200 objects related to significant milestones in national and international sports history, with a special focus on celebrating the achievements of various Tenerife clubs and athletes.

Talks, Forums, and Programmes

The Physical Activity-Sport Plan for Social Inclusion (PADIS) will commence a new edition during Expodeca with a talk on the keys to this programme from the Cabildo, which is regarded as a leader in sports inclusion. Last year, it was recognised as the ‘Best Sports Programme in the Canary Islands’ by Acagede. Following this, a Latino aerobic session will be held with the participation of several partner centres.

The Tenerife Bluetrail by UTMB will also be featured in the conference space with a talk on nutritional planning for mountain races presented by Heliodoro Méndez, a pharmacist and nutritionist.

During the event on Friday, October 3rd, the second edition of the permanent public-private collaboration forum on sports services will take place. This edition will occur in eight different locations across the country, including Tenerife, aimed at improving coordination among all sports stakeholders.

All the programmes and activities promoted by the Cabildo’s Sports department will be featured at Expodeca, including ‘Lo Nuestro en Tu Centro’, ‘Educar Entrenando’, ‘Tenerife Urbano’, and the ‘Master Games’, along with a talk on the ‘Active Running Cities’ initiative, in which Tenerife participates as a territory committed to promoting physical exercise as a means of fostering wellbeing and social cohesion.

ExpoDeca, promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Sports Ministry and organized by the Cabildo’s Sports department alongside the public company Ideco, is sponsored by the Disa Foundation, Coca-Cola, Powerade, Binter, and Grupo Ybarra. Its primary objective is to foster an active and healthy culture, encouraging physical activity as a tool for wellbeing and social cohesion.
