The Cabildo Welcomes the Medallists from the Canary Islands Equestrian Team

Today (Wednesday 27), the Cabildo of Tenerife hosted a reception for the athletes of the Canary Islands Equestrian Team, who participated in the Spanish Championship of Pony Endurance, held last June at the Equestrian Centre in Castilla y León (Segovia).

The Canary team consists of 15 young athletes from the Canary Islands (aged between 8 and 15). The team has a strong Tenerife presence, with 13 athletes from Tenerife and 2 from La Palma. They competed in various categories of the Pony Endurance discipline, securing silver in the Pony D team event, silver in the Pony A team event, and a fourth-place finish in Pony B, just three minutes short of bronze.

The Sports Councillor, Yolanda Moliné, accompanied by team leader Julián Garcés, the president of the Canary Islands Equestrian Federation, Noemí Carreras, and the Youth Councillor, Serafín Mesa, addressed the federation members to convey the Cabildo’s recognition “for the effort you have made as athletes, but also for the support from families, which is essential.”

Moliné emphasised that “for the first time, the Cabildo is welcoming athletes from this discipline, responding to a historical debt that the institution had with equestrianism.”
