The Cabildo Installs First Automated Service Terminal in Vilaflor de Chasna
The new resource will be part of a network of 28 terminals across the island’s consortia municipalities
The Cabildo of Tenerife has installed the first automated service terminal in Vilaflor de Chasna. This innovative resource is situated in the Municipal Library. It is set to be rolled out across all 28 municipalities associated with the consortium in Tenerife, bringing public services closer to all citizens.
Juan José Martínez, the councillor for Innovation, Research and Development, emphasised that “with this initiative, the Consortium is modernising its services and enhancing support for local residents. We have designed a user-friendly tool aimed at enabling any citizen to complete their transactions without delays or complications.”
The device, fully autonomous, operates using a straightforward system that only requires users to input their DNI. It does not need technical assistance for use nor ongoing maintenance, making it a convenient, secure, and practical tool for users. The system is designed for scalability and may offer services from local councils in the future, becoming a useful tool for many more transactions.
According to Agustina Beltrán, the mayor of Vilaflor, this is an important advancement for the town’s residents as they will no longer need to travel to the nearest offices located in the town of San Miguel. “We believe the municipal library is the best location due to its extensive opening hours in both mornings and afternoons, allowing residents to verify certificates or complete other administrative tasks at any time.” Beltrán noted this is a way to bring administration closer to a community that is quite isolated.
Serving the Citizenry
The Tenerife Tax Consortium is an organisation established by the Cabildo of Tenerife to facilitate the management and collection of taxes belonging to the integrated Corporations. As part of this task, it manages the Property Tax (IBI), Tax on Economic Activities (IAE), Vehicle Tax (IVTM), Tax on the Increase in Value of Urban Land (IIVTNU), Tax on Constructions, Installations, and Works (ICIO), Traffic Fines, Administrative Sanctions, Fees, and other public revenues belonging to the municipality, such as the Waste Collection Fee, Sewerage Fee, and Vado Fee.
The legal nature of the Tenerife Tax Consortium offers a dual advantage, manifesting itself through its recognition as a local entity and the legal security this entails. Secondly, it is considered an instrumental entity linked to or dependent on the local consortium entities.
The Tenerife Tax Consortium comprises the municipalities of Arafo, Arico, Arona, Buenavista del Norte, Candelaria, El Rosario, El Sauzal, El Tanque, Fasnia, Garachico, Granadilla de Abona, Guía de Isora, Güímar, Icod de los Vinos, La Laguna, La Matanza, La Orotava, La Victoria, Los Realejos, Los Silos, Puerto de la Cruz, San Juan de la Rambla, San Miguel, Santa Úrsula, Santiago del Teide, Tacoronte, Tegueste, and Vilaflor.
