The Cabildo Invests €541,000 in Sports Facilities in Granadilla de Abona

The Island Councillor for Sports, Yolanda Moliné, emphasises the strong commitment the Corporation is making in this southern municipality, having collaborated on two infrastructures in 2025 (Los Cardones Urban Park and Francisco Suárez Stadium) and, looking ahead to 2026, on the Los Abrigos 7-a-side football pitch.

The Cabildo of Tenerife is investing €541,000 in Granadilla de Abona through its Sports department. The Councillor for Sports, Yolanda Moliné, visited the southern municipality on Tuesday, where she held a meeting with its mayor, José Domingo Regalado, deputy mayor and councillor for Works, Marcos Antonio Rodríguez, the councillor for Sports, Rubén García, and the CEO, Ramón Fredi Oramas.

During the meeting, several topics were discussed, including upcoming municipal projects and the status of the works in which the Island Corporation is involved, through the Tenerife Sports Infrastructure Plan (PIDT). Specifically, the investment has focused in 2025 on the Los Cardones Urban Park, with €110,218, which is currently in the project drafting phase, and on the “Francisco Suárez” Stadium, with €373,258, already completed with the replacement of the grass. For 2026, there will be a contribution towards the Los Abrigos 7-a-side Football Pitch amounting to €57,500.

Additionally, a multi-sport pitch was inaugurated in 2024 at the Las Chozas Sports Centre, and there were nominative grants for the drafting of the repair project for the “Pollito de la Barriada” Wrestling Ring (€38,000), as well as for the drafting of the project for the Sports Centre in San Isidro (€42,000). In this regard, Moliné explains that “in Granadilla de Abona, the Sports area of the Cabildo is carrying out significant investment, with up to three renovation and adaptation initiatives in various infrastructures”. Furthermore, the councillor “emphasises the importance of continuing to invest in spaces that promote healthy habits and encourage sports in the community, catering to both children and adults, always in collaboration with the local councils”.
