The President of the Circle of Entrepreneurs of Southern Tenerife (CEST), Javier Cabrera, is urging the Canary Islands Government to decisively progress on the development of the Southern Hospital, located in El Mojón (Arona), a vital healthcare facility to ensure access to public health services on the island of Tenerife.

Cabrera explains that the Southern Hospital has been a demand for 30 years for proper access to healthcare in our region and will undoubtedly help alleviate the pressure on the overcrowded reference hospitals in Tenerife, such as the University Hospital of the Canary Islands and the Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria Hospital.

“The South will continue to align with the longstanding demand of the Pro Hospital of the South Platform in the fight for the hospital our region requires. We are not asking for privileges; we are claiming a basic right: access to quality public healthcare that is close and efficient, and respect for the South,” asserts Cabrera.

There should be no more excuses

CEST believes there are no technical or budgetary excuses that justify further delays to this infrastructure.

“Healthcare is a pillar of the Welfare State. Investing in the Southern Hospital is investing in dignity, development, and social justice. There cannot be first and second-class citizens depending on where they live,” concludes the president of CEST.
