The Noble Hall of the Cabildo de Tenerife hosted the reception for the athletes of the Canary Islands Pony Raid Team today (Wednesday 27), after their participation in the Spanish Pony Raid Championship, held last June at the Equestrian Centre in Castilla y León (Segovia).
Team Composition and Achievements
The Canary team comprises 15 young riders from the Canary Islands, aged between 8 and 15 years. With a strong Tenerife presence (13 athletes from Tenerife and 2 from La Palma), they competed in various categories within the Pony Raid discipline, securing silver medals in both the Pony D and Pony A team events, as well as finishing fourth in Pony B, just three minutes shy of a bronze medal.
Official Acknowledgements
Sports Councillor Yolanda Moliné, accompanied by team leader Julián Garcés, President of the Canary Equestrian Federation Noemí Ceja, and Youth Councillor Serafín Mesa, addressed the federation members, conveying the Cabildo’s recognition of “the effort you have made as athletes, and also the support from families, which is crucial.”
Moliné emphasised that “for the first time, the Cabildo is welcoming athletes from this discipline, addressing a historic debt that the institution had with equestrianism.”
