This weekend, the city of Arrecife will experience an intense few days with a wide array of events organised by the Municipal Government, led by Mayor Yonathan de León, in celebration of the patron saint festivities for San Ginés Obispo, the patron saint of Lanzarote’s capital.
Mayor Yonathan de León, accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism and Commerce, Eli Merino, and the Councillor for Events and Activities, Óscar López, presented the programme and the bands performing this Saturday, the 23rd, for the new edition of the Fiesta de la Chola. This is a much-anticipated date on the city’s festive calendar during the San Ginés celebrations.
Under the direct organisation of the Councils of Tourism and Commerce, as well as Events and Activities, the Parque Islas Canarias will host nearly 12 consecutive hours of musical performances and summer fun.
Yonathan de León detailed this morning during the presentation held at La Recova that, in a well-planned manner, the celebrations will be promoted throughout the city’s waterfront, from Charco de San Ginés to Punta del Camello, with themed stages in each area aimed at energising the city and supporting the hospitality, leisure, and commerce sectors to accommodate the large influx of visitors attending the events.
This Saturday, the Parque Islas Canarias will be the epicentre of enjoyment and joy with the Fiesta de la Chola, which this year will feature performances by Los 600, DJ Maxi, Aseres, the groups Extra and Bomba, and DeLorean.
The Councillor for Commerce and Tourism, Eli Merino, highlighted that accommodation venues in Arrecife are fully booked for this extended weekend, which includes the Grand Day of San Ginés on 25th August. Many visitors from other islands and the mainland will travel to participate and enjoy the events organised by the Town Hall during the San Ginés festivities.
Similarly, the Councillor for Events and Activities, Óscar López, emphasised that the Fiesta de la Chola provides a family-friendly, summery, and enjoyable gathering in the festivities’ programme. The schedules and performing groups have been arranged to ensure that families, both children and adults, can attend and have fun during the nearly 12 hours of performances. The Town Hall, being mindful of the local residents’ peace, has arranged for the performances at the Fiesta de la Chola to conclude by midnight.
