Canary Islands Tourism Industry Records Best July Ever
The tourism sector in the Canary Islands experienced its best July on record, welcoming 1,231,090 foreign visitors, which represents a 6.6% increase compared to 2024. This achievement marks 25 consecutive months above one million visitors from other countries, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics.
The spending generated by foreign tourists during their holidays in the islands reached a record-breaking €2.219 billion, which signifies a 14.4% increase compared to July 2024.
Record Year Ahead
In cumulative terms, the Canary Islands have welcomed 9.07 million foreign tourists in the first seven months of the year, positioning 2025 on track to be another record year for the sector.
Indeed, as of now, the Canary Islands still outpace the Balearic Islands in terms of total tourist numbers, a rare occurrence given that the Mediterranean archipelago has entered its peak season.
With the July figures, only Catalonia surpasses the Canary Islands for tourist numbers from other countries this year, with 11.60 million visitors.
Spending Generated
Regarding expenditure, the cumulative total for 2025 in the Canary Islands has reached €14.088 billion, marking an 8.23% increase from the previous year.
In July alone, each international tourist visiting the Canary Islands spent an average of €1,803 per person, an increase of 7.6%.
The average daily expenditure per person rose by 5.4% to €218, while the average length of stay increased by 2.1% to 8.3 days.
