The Virgen de la Merced, or Our Lady of Mercy, is a Marian devotion cherished by Catholics in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is also known as the Virgin of Mercy. In La Laguna, the valley of the Lagunera plain is referred to as the Valley of Las Mercedes, as is the famous Monte de las Mercedes.
