The Costa Teguise Judo Club (CJCT) is poised for a new season filled with competitions and renewed aspirations.
Open to All
The club’s president, Antonio Ramírez, stated that “CJCT opens its doors to anyone interested in diving into the noble world of Judo at its base in Costa Teguise, as well as in the municipal Judo schools in Teguise, San Bartolomé, and Tinajo. Interested individuals can call 676090187.”
Reflecting on Past Successes
This new season echoes the successes of an unforgettable last year. According to Ramírez, “our goals have been met. We have maintained our national category for another year and showcased a high level across different categories in national and international competitions. I would like to highlight the stability achieved in all categories, which has been accomplished despite the usual challenges, particularly the financial shortfalls from some institutions. Indeed, unfulfilled promises are often more painful than the neglect faced by Judo on the island—celebrated and respected more outside than within our own region. This lack of support is evident, for example, in the limited opportunities for new signings, pushing us at times to compete with fewer members. Nonetheless, as I mentioned, we have achieved our objectives and are very excited about the new season. Our junior ranks have grown significantly, alongside our senior members competing at both national and international levels. Our future looks bright.”
A Promising Season Ahead
“The new season is starting strong,” Ramírez continues, “with the senior championships of the Canary Islands taking place in October, followed by events in Vigo, Granadilla, and the Prague Open being just a few of the competitions we will attend in the last quarter of 2025. In summary, we are celebrating twenty-seven years of our club which undoubtedly deserves to continue growing for the sake of Judo in Lanzarote. We currently have a total of two hundred and twelve active members, and with hard work and a passion for Judo, we will continue to thrive,” concludes Antonio Ramírez.
