Closure of Beaches Due to Contamination from Stranded Fishing Vessel

The Haría Council has announced the closure of the beaches of Caletón Blanco and El Charco de La Condesa due to pollutant discharges from a fishing vessel that ran aground this morning off the coast of Órzola.

This prohibition will remain in effect until further notice, once health authorities ensure the area’s safety and confirm that there is no risk to public health and wellbeing.

Collaboration with Emergency Services

The municipal institution is collaborating with the Lanzarote Consortium for Security and Emergencies, which has activated the Insular Emergency Plan in response to marine pollution. The aim is to remove the vessel from the bay to prevent potential damage to marine biodiversity and the ecosystem.

Public Advisory

The Council urges citizens to avoid proximity to the affected areas. Additionally, the public is asked to respect the temporary signage in place and apologies are extended for any inconvenience caused.
