Coalición Canaria Begins Renewal Process for Local Committees in Teguise

Coalición Canaria (CC) in Lanzarote is set to commence the renewal process of its seven Local Committees, along with the Young Nationalists of Lanzarote (JNL), starting this Thursday in Teguise. This follows the celebration of the Insular Congress last May. According to a press release from the organisation, the Assembly to elect the Local Secretary of Teguise will be held this Thursday at 20:00 in the Municipal Theatre of the Villa.

The position has been held by Javier Díaz since February 2024, following the resignation of Olivia Duque, who stepped down to focus on her responsibilities as mayor of the municipality. Javier Díaz, the current councillor in La Villa, has publicly expressed his desire to continue in the role, alongside his second-in-command, the current Secretary of Organisation, Adrián Villalba, who is also the president of the Rancho de Pascuas in Teguise, among other roles. Both Díaz and Villalba revealed in Crónicas Radio’s programme “A Buena Hora” their intention to present a list led by them, featuring “important new developments” and additions aimed at strengthening a project that seeks to reclaim lost ground to the Socialist Party (PSOE), which was the most voted party in the recent elections.

Extension of Renewal Deadline

Moreover, within the framework of the vibrant democratic process that nationalists believe characterises CC, the Insular Executive has decided to extend the deadline for renewing the remaining committees until 15 October, in response to requests from several local organisations.

In this context, the Secretary General, Pedro San Ginés, stated that “this extension not only ensures greater participation but also enriches internal debate and reinforces the legitimacy of the process, allowing all perspectives and contributions to be included.”

San Ginés emphasises that these events, which are open to members and the public, represent a significant moment for the political organisation.

It is essential to remember that Coalición Canaria is a deeply participative, democratic, and open party, where all members who meet the established requirements have the opportunity to present their candidacy.

“These meetings provide an opportunity to demonstrate the unity and strength of our organisation, Coalición Canaria, and to continue working together for the future of our municipalities and the island,” affirms the nationalist leader.
