The CONTIGO Puerto del Rosario party has launched harsh criticisms against the management of the mayor and the municipal administration, accusing them of turning the capital of Fuerteventura into a “dormant capital”.

In an open letter, the president of the party, Aniello Pepe, questions the lack of planning and projects that would allow Puerto del Rosario to develop as a modern and attractive city. “The nightlife in the capital of Majorera is almost non-existent, more so than in other cities of Fuerteventura,” states the announcement, emphasising that after sunset “the streets in the centre empty quickly, bars close early, and there are no places dedicated to evening entertainment”.

According to CONTIGO, this situation not only disappoints tourists seeking leisure and vibrancy, but it also restricts residents, preventing them from fully enjoying the capital. “In summary, a sleepy capital that drives away visitors and stops residents from fully appreciating the beauty of Puerto del Rosario,” asserts Pepe in the letter.

The organisation insists that Puerto del Rosario must present itself as a seductive and intriguing city, capable of offering authentic experiences and healthy entertainment that generates income for its businesses. In this regard, the local president of CONTIGO directly asks the mayor: “Do you think you have a concrete solution to implement before your term ends? People demand answers, not promises.”

The document also questions the lack of measures to guarantee future opportunities for the youth, as well as the absence of real planning to address the problems affecting the municipality. “It is time to start building the present and future of Puerto del Rosario,” concludes Pepe, who asserts that his party is “on the side of everyone to make Puerto del Rosario a recognised and recognisable capital.”
