Successful Conclusion of Chinija Creative University for the Second Consecutive Year
The Chinija Creative University Summer Programme, sponsored by the Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote and the Culture Department of the Arrecife City Council, has successfully concluded for the second consecutive year. Families, artists, facilitators, and public institutions involved have expressed their satisfaction with the accomplishment of the initiative’s objectives.
The project, divided into three fortnightly sessions to reach the maximum number of beneficiary families, has completed its registrations. Throughout July and August, 66 children enjoyed mornings filled with activities related to the arts, environmental awareness, recycling, music, dance, and storytelling, among others.
Future Editions Planned
Samuel Martín, the Biosphere Reserve councillor, has indicated his intention to continue with future editions of the Chinija Creative University. He noted, “It is remarkable how young children understand, adopt, and share behaviours that are increasingly vital for coexistence and environmental preservation at home. Investing in childhood is investing in the future.”
Accessible Locations and Engaging Programme
The Chinija University was held at two different locations in the city: the Municipal Archive of Arrecife and the sociocultural centre of Argana Baja, to improve accessibility and attendance. The recreational programme, coordinated by the company Tágora and developed by professionals from various creative disciplines, was consistently well-received across all three sessions. Attendees, aged between six and twelve, were eager to enjoy themselves and make new friends.
