The environment surrounding Cruz del Carmen in the Anaga Rural Park has seen a growing influx that has generated tensions in recent years. The latest to publicly denounce this situation is TikTok user magec_76.
“Zero empathy for Anaga residents”, states the video’s author, posted yesterday, Tuesday. The 17-second clip has provoked outrage among numerous islanders, with comments like: “They are ruining Tenerife,” “this is the real issue,” and “it gets worse during peak seasons” being some of the responses to the post.
Furthermore, magec_76 insists that despite the video being filmed on a Thursday, when there should theoretically be less footfall in the area, “the chaos is incredible”.

735,000 Visitors per Year
It is estimated that over 735,000 people visit annually this location, prompting the Cabildo of Tenerife to conduct an assessment of its hosting capacity to improve territorial planning and mitigate the ecological impact resulting from such high visitor numbers. This figure highlights the significant pressure on one of the island’s most valued natural spaces.
On the other hand, local residents claim that the current situation is “unsustainable”. They describe a state of vehicular congestion and daily traffic jams, particularly on the TF-12 road, which during busy days creates long lines extending as far as Las Mercedes.
This scenario has sparked calls from residents for measures similar to those implemented in the Teno Rural Park, such as public transport systems—including buses—to reduce the prevalence of private vehicles and enhance mobility in the affected area.
